Meet Our Staff

 

Dr. John J. Kelley, is a veteran public school employee with 35 years service in an urban school system in southeastern Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, North Dartmouth in 1969 with a BA in History; Bridgewater State College with a Master in Education, Elementary Mathematics in 1971: a C.A.G.S. in Administration in 1982; a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1986.

Presently, a retired Central Office administrator, Dr. Kelley coordinated Mathematics, Science and Technology programs for an urban school district, and is deeply involved in integrating technology to enhance learning in all aspects of the curriculum. He is on staff at Cambridge College, Cambridge Massachusetts as a senior Instructor, a visiting lecturer at Fitchburg State College and Salem State College and is President of PRISM Educational Consultants, Inc.

Dr. Kelley and his wife have four children and has volunteered many hours as the president and co-president of their high school athletic booster program.

Robert Ettinger, is currently the Principal of Elmhurst Elementary School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. His 35 years in public Education in Massachusetts includes 9 years as an Elementary Principal in Holbrook and 25 years as a teacher in the Randolph Public Schools. He received his Master of Education Degree in School Administration and his Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston State College.

Bob is an advocate of sustained professional development that improves student learning. He believes that faculty members must be empowered and involved in the school's decision-making process. Bob's affiliations include The National Association of Elementary School Principals, The Massachusetts Elementary School Principals Association and The Rhode Island Elementary School Principals Association.

Bob and his wife, Kathy, who is employed as an Instructional Technology Specialist and Webmaster for The Brockton Public Schools, have a son, Rob, who works in the banking industry.

Dr. John Kerrigan, has public school experience in both urban and suburban districts. Over the last thirty-four years Dr. Kerrigan has worked as an assistant superintendent of schools, director of student services, special education administrator, middle school science teacher, and school adjustment counselor. He has served on the board of directors for two education collaboratives, as a three-term school committee member, and on statewide committees including; the professional development committee of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents and the ASE (Administrators of Special Education) board of directors.

John is on the staff of Cambridge College. He has taught courses in a number of areas including: school law, action research design, human resources and personnel management and school business & budgeting. He is also and educational consultant in areas of education leadership, special education, mentoring and assessment.

John has a Doctorate from the University of Massachusetts in Educational Leadership, a C.A.G.S and M.Ed. in School Administration and an M. Ed. in Guidance Counseling from Bridgewater State College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Stonehill College.

 

Joseph Mastrocola, is an experienced educator with over Twenty years of experience at all levels of education, K - higher education (including special education). Specialization in educational technology including infrastructure, integration, implementation, and the affects of teaching, learning and curriculum restructuring. Experience with the following education restructuring movements: Coalition of Essential Schools, Accelerated Schools Program, Portfolio Assessment, Multiple Intelligence's, Critical Skills, and Charter School Models.

 

Jonathan G. Levesque, has a Master's of Education in Science from Fitchburg State College, and obtained his Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Jonathan believes interactive demonstration, laboratory, and project-based activities are at the center of learning objectives. Teaching chemistry at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School gives him the opportunity to help students embrace their natural curiosity for learning. He thrives on directing students to research their "Why?" questions associated with scientific inquiry, chemical reactions, and laboratory experiments. To these ends, he uses technology based assignments and reliable internet resources in the classroom.

Major teaching and research interests include nutrition, energy conversion, environmental and chemical pathways. Participation in scientific research includes contributions to sedimentation and bioerosion projects with UMASS Boston, USGS, IODP (formerly ODP), University of South Florida, and Eckerd College. Major, immediate goals include continuing his education in science by obtaining a Master's of Science and Doctorate Degree in Chemistry or related fields. He will continue developing his craft by learning from fellow colleagues and students.

Jonathan and his wife, Amy, who is an elementary school teacher and a site coordinator for Lesley University, live on the south coast of Massachusetts.

 

William Clark, is the Director of the Barnstable County Regional Office of the University of Massachusetts Cooperative Extension since 1980. He received a BS & MS in Plant & Soil Science from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and is an Adjunct Professor and Horticulture Program Coordinator at Cape Cod Community College. Bill serves as a member of the Massachusetts Pesticide Board, Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Board and the Dennis Conservation Commission. In addition, he is a visiting lecturer for Fitchburg and Salem State Colleges and has taught graduate science education content courses for Jon L. Jenmarc Inc. throughout South Eastern Massachusetts.

 

Michelle Colombo Gain is a literacy specialist with over thirty years of public school experience in both suburban and urban settings. She graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education/English/Social Science. In 1982, she received a Master of Education degree with a concentration in reading from BSC. Since then, she has completed extensive coursework and professional development in education leadership and literacy learning. Ms. Gain has been a classroom teacher at the primary, intermediate and secondary levels. At the building level, she has been a Title 1 Reading Teacher for mainstream and English Language Learners and a Reading Resource Specialist. As a central administrator, Ms. Gain served as Coordinator of Reading Language Arts and Social Science, K-8.

Currently, Ms. Gain is an educational consultant, providing professional development in best practices to teachers of students from preschool through the secondary level. She is a Supervisor of Practicum for candidates completing a Master of Education degree in reading at Bridgewater State College and teaches graduate level courses for Salem and Fitchburg State colleges. In addition, she is a trainer of volunteer tutors at The Literacy Place, a program for adult learners. She and her husband, David, have two grown children and two granddaughters.

 

Joyce McDonough is an educator with over twenty-five years experience teaching in private and public schools from K-12, and beyond. A 1967 graduate of Emmanuel College, she obtained her Master of Education degree from Lesley College in 1989. A recipient of two NEH Summer Seminar awards (1986, 1991) she worked with teachers from across the country to examine "Hamlet", and later to research the expeditions of Lewis and Clark. Her article "Wish You Were Here" (We Proceeded On, May, 1996) was published in a national magazine dedicated to continuing research on Lewis and Clark.

Joyce is also an associate of Collins Education Associates, LLC and worked full-time for John Collins in 2001 conducting writing workshops across the country for teachers and administrators K-12. Returning to the Brockton Public Schools she was a head ESL teacher, a Silber Literacy Specialist, a Comer Process facilitator, and a Title One teacher who emphasized writing across the curriculum.

Her love of language, literature, poetry and writing is always reflected in her classes. She encourages teachers to celebrate their students' backgrounds and strengths while nurturing their growth in reading and their ability to think and write clearly and creatively.
